Race, Gender And Intersectionality: The Meanings Of A Black Woman From The Teaching Book To The Magazine Covers.

Abstract

Centuries ago, when women had no say in society, several struggles were fought so that they could have the right to be respected equally with men. Among these women, there was still a group that stood out in this struggle by claiming not only gender equality, but also fighting for equality of race. This problem is constituted, as black women have their speech silenced throughout history by the overlapping racist interests of the women's movement and sexist intentions of the black movement. From this perspective, there is a need to understand how this clash of oppression is constituted in the current scenario in which we live and how the crossing of such identity markers operate together. In this way, our general objective is to understand how the senses of black women and the functioning of the politician are constituted in the textbook and magazines aimed at the female audience, which constitute our corpus. Thus, we have as a work question: how are the senses of black women constituted in the face of the intersection between race and gender? Which unfolds in two more questions: how does temporality historically configure these senses? And how does the functioning of the politician organize these meanings? To guide the ways to answer these questions, we start from the hypothesis that there is a double place for black women, as race and gender, occupying a double discrimination. For the development of the research, we base this work on the theoretical assumptions of the Semantics of the Event, an enunciative semantic theory that starts from the premise that the senses are constituted in the enunciation, in a relation of the language with the language itself, as something that is taken in the temporality of the event. Thus, the language event establishes meanings because it is affected by the politician who installs the conflict at the center of saying, establishing an inequality that divides and re-divides the spaces of enunciation.
