THE HISTORICAL WAY OF PLUS-QUAM-PERFECT: CONTRIBUTIONS FOR POPULAR PORTUGUÊS FROM VITÓRIA DA CONQUISTA – BAHIA

ABSTRACT
This research deals with the anterior’s function to a point of reference last. In this view, we believe that this function is coded in Portuguese through other verbal categories, in addition to the plus-quam-perfect, such as the past tense, showing that the simplest form of the more-than-perfect seems to be endangered. To this end, this research uses the theoretical framework of functionalism Language. And to prove it empirically, we found the data from the Research Group corpus in Historical Linguistics and Sociofuncionalismo / CNPQ the urban region of Vitoria da Conquista, Bahia. In discussing the notions of time, aspect and reference point sought to demonstrate that such a function, to some extent, is not linked only to the verbal, but permeates every sentence, including being reinforced by adverbs of time. We believe that the anterior’s function is not exercised only by the more-than-perfect, other verbs exercise that function in the same way, which, however, is not mentioned by the normative nature grammars. The results also show that the anterior’s function to the point that last reference is reinforced by categories other than verbal, as adverbs and even the contexts in which certain sentences are spoken. With this, it became clear the need for a broadening of commonly defined notions in grammar manuals to define the more-than-perfect, what to do, we will have to revisit, together with the functional contexts of this tense, the notions of time, aspect and reference point in specialist literature. The select speakers with low education, we believe that the priority function is related to the heterogeneity of users. So to say that the communicative context is important to understand the language of dynamics with regard to the phenomenon under study, we bring to analysis functionalism, linguistic theory that interrelates form and function, view in a dynamic and adaptable way to situations of communication. This research is necessary to further research on the phenomenon under discussion, so our goal is to expand the discussion on verbal time, considering it is a very rich field for further research have developments, and thus may know increasingly our language.
