Abstract

The objective of this research was to describe and analyze the factors that interfere in the process of acquisition and development of canonical babbling, the gateway to the first words, in babies with T21. The study is based on Discursive Neurolinguistics and Historical-Cultural Theory, understanding that it is through language that we understand the world and that its appropriation occurs through a relational and intentional situation, therefore, understanding the factors that interfere in this process is essential importance. To carry out this research, two groups of babies aged between 7 months and 4 years of age were evaluated. One of the groups was composed of 9 children and is monitored by the Speach-Down Research Group at the State University of Southwest Bahia, Campus in Vitória da Conquista-Bahia, and the other group of 9 that is not monitored in the laboratory. A vast questionnaire was applied with 64 questions about nutrition, harmful habits, breastfeeding, use of pacifiers and bottles, family relationship with the baby, family interaction and involvement with the activities proposed by the therapists, so that the factors of the day can be analyzed. baby's day that interfere with the production of the first babbles. Preliminary results indicate that babies monitored by the Speech-Down Research Group started babbling earlier than babies who did not have the same monitoring. We observed, after analyzing the questionnaires, that a factor strongly correlated with the precocity of babbling in babies in the Speech- Down Group was the fact that, in addition to the intervention process with the babies, the parents assisted by the research group received systematic guidance and follow-up for the stimulation of your children at home. Guidance on the importance of social interaction and family involvement in the process of language acquisition and development were also given.
